A GARDEN OF WORDS | Nurturing Wonder with Reading + Writing

“The freedom to read is essential to our democracy.” — The American Library Association

A new space is growing on the second floor of the Center for Performing Arts! Rachel Gabriel is developing literary arts programming within A Garden of Words.

Read. Write. Dream. In this curated library, everyone is encouraged to slow down, pause, and nourish themselves within the possibility of the printed word.

Visitors may borrow a book on the honor system. Once finished, return books to A Garden of Words so more readers and writers can enjoy them.

Do not add to the collection, please. Donate your books to one of the many Little Libraries in the surrounding neighborhoods.

You’re invited to engage with the writing prompts, poems, and quotes which will rotate seasonally.

Keep an eye out for signs of Palabra, a very fine cat who lives in A Garden of Words and loves to receive postcards from her pen pals around the world.

Monthly Journaling Group

Journaling is often a solo act, but in a group setting it becomes a shared creative experience. Once a month we meet to write (prompts provided) and make space for creativity and conversation.

Each meeting has its own rhythm: sometimes funny, sometimes reflective, always meaningful. Sharing is always optional and joining is free. Just show up, write a little, and see where the pages take you! Please RSVP and subscribe to be notified about future meetings:
