Facilities Maintenance Support
10 hours per week including weekends. $30 per hour.
3 days a week contractor position - open until filled.
This Facilities Maintenance position is an important part of CFPA’s team that oversees the care and management of the community and works to promote an informed, welcoming, and safe culture that attracts, retains, and inspires mutual respect and support for tenants, guests and the public.
General Duties:
Maintain the exterior and interior of the building ensuring a clean, safe and orderly facility.
Weekly
Create a weekly calendar of priorities for building event needs and facilities projects;
Building Maintenance: perform a variety of building maintenance tasks per priorities including:
minor repairs to building and furniture,
painting,
moving furniture and equipment,
repair door locking systems,
replace lights,
light snow shoveling,
roof maintenance,
lawn and garden maintenance,
maintenance of exterior walkways, stairs, patios, fences and furniture, and
installing signage.
Janitorial duties as needed including studio spaces, live-work studios, performance and rehearsal rooms, and common area cleaning and maintenance. This includes garbage removal, sweeping and mopping floors, dusting, grounds pick-up and street litter.
As Needed
Manage building operations systems. Liaison with staff to engage building services vendors, including security system, fire detection, fire extinguisher, elevator, HVAC and mechanical systems, roofing, plumbing, electrical, and other building repair, and maintenance providers.
Maintain vendor schedules and set deadlines to ensure completion of services and maintenance with vendors in order to keep the building’s systems in compliance. File the necessary certifications with state and local regulatory agencies.
Specialty Equipment Inventory, Care and Maintenance: Caretake performing arts-based equipment including maintenance, cleaning and upgrading dance floors, audio equipment, mirrors, pianos, risers, tables and chairs.
Assist staff with the preparation and implementation of special events in the building by providing setup and restoration of impacted spaces.
On-call for building emergencies.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
· Understanding and experience working with the methods and principles of general building maintenance and building systems including electrical, plumbing, fire, heating and cooling systems;
· Excellent listening skills, verbal communication, interpersonal and relationship-building skills to effectively work with a variety of people and personalities.
· Experience working with people from backgrounds and identities different than self;
· Maintain a professional appearance, friendly and positive attitude;
· Experience working in Google-Suite platform and Google Calendar;
· Skillful in working independently;
· Demonstrate integrity, dependability, responsibility, accountability, self-awareness, reliable work ethic, and compassion;
· Proactive problem solver with a service-oriented attitude;
· Ability to frequently lift and/or move 75 lbs;
· Ability to work on a ladder.
Qualifications:
Two-five years previous experience in building management, construction, or facilities work;
KNOWLEDGE OF:
· Materials, methods and equipment used in remodeling and construction.
· Carpentry equivalent to that earned in a four‐year carpentry apprenticeship.
· Basic maintenance and operation of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems.
· Basic electrical and plumbing systems maintenance and repair.
· Basic locksmithing
· Valid MN Driver’s License
· Ability to work effectively on a personal computer;
· Provide own tools and equipment needed to perform ordinary duties including computer;
· Demonstrated track record with detail-oriented work;
· Significant experience working successfully as a member of a team;
Preferred:
· Technical skills in audio and lighting and experience working in theatrical or audio production spaces.
· Certifications for relevant building systems.
